MARKETING, AND DIGITAL STRATEGY INTERN KXCI COMMUNITY MEDIA

***This internship is reserved for students eligible for the summer internship stipend. Students eligible will have been notified via email from Student Engagement & Career Development.***

Position Summary:
KXCI is seeking a responsible intern who can commit to 15 hours of work per week to collaborate with team members on digital campaigns, social media strategy, and community engagement. The intern will work closely with the Director of Education and Community Engagement but will collaborate with a variety of team members. The intern will gain direct experience in working with an independent, community radio station.

Job Site: Hybrid remote and at KXCI Studios, 220 S. 4th Avenue, Tucson, AZ

REPORTS TO: Director of Education and Community Engagement

The internship will begin after June 1, 2022, with a flexible start date.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Digital Strategy and Social Media:
  • Understands the overall concept of the company, including the brand, customer, product goals, and all other aspects of service.
  • Researches new community engagement-based program opportunities to increase KXCI’s visibility.
  • Monitor various social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
  • Analyzes analytics to gauge the success of campaigns.
  • Provide suggestions to management for improving listener experience on social platforms and internal processes.
  • Learns and becomes proficient in internal software and workflow systems.

Community Engagement: 
  • Assists with projects related to KXCI’s community engagement efforts. 
  • Collaborates on creating mechanisms for ongoing evaluation of Education and Community Engagement initiatives.
  • Works with the Community Advisory Board on community assessment tools.
  • Brainstorms ideas to reach and engage younger listeners. 
  • Assists at summer community events, partnership, and sponsorships.  
  • Collaborates on ideas for an enhanced website.
  • Assists with developing marketing and community engagement materials through the KXCI newsletter and social media development.

Recommended Qualifications (not required)
Strong interpersonal and written communication skills, strong social media skillset (Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, YouTube). Must be in good academic standing. Some experience with website design, Adobe, Microsoft, and Google Suite. Must demonstrate a commitment to diversity, racial equity, and inclusion through modeling inclusive behaviors and proactively managing bias.

WHAT YOU’LL LEARN:
Through this internship you will gain experience in planning and executing social media campaigns, managing a website, learning elements that go into online fundraising, using Excel, Canva, and other programs necessary to plan digital campaigns. As well as, the dynamics of productive team meetings, and the experience of working with a highly energetic and dynamic team.
