Recruitment & Design Officer

***This internship is reserved for students eligible for the summer internship stipend. Students eligible will have been notified via email from Student Engagement & Career Development.***

The Recruitment & Design Officer will work directly and in collaboration with the Director of Volunteer Services (DVS). DVS is a new position within Literacy Connects. The Director is working on building a dynamic Volunteer Department, with a big focus on volunteer recruitment. The Director is looking for students to bring their fresh perspective in how to design this department and how best to reach out and recruit from different demographics across Tucson.

The Recruitment & Design Officer will perform the following duties:
  • Work in collaboration with DVS and her small team to develop targeted recruitment plans based on data
  • Maintain current relationships DVS has created
  • Engage in active recruitment for volunteers at various events and/or through email and/or by phone and/or social media
  • Research and assess the potential of new technologies to create more effective volunteer recruitment and onboarding systems
  • Help DVS develop internship pipelines with various organizations and schools, based on the organization's gap assessment
  • Help DVS design and plan volunteer recognition initiatives and events for 2022 and 2023
  • Provide feedback on how to recruit volunteers who better reflect our learners, then develop strategic plans in which to do so, and execute those plans
  • Provide feedback on how to attract more diversity to Literacy Connects (website and social media suggestions)
  • Minimal data entry

Qualifications for Recruitment & Design Officer: 
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) preferred
  • Ability to navigate zoom, Google Docs, basic technology
  • Superb oral and written communication skills
  • Some project management skills preferred
  • Creative thinker who can bring ideas to the table
  • Can work remotely, independently manage tasks, and sometimes meet in person, with willingness to attend events in person and do some active recruitment in person
