Volunteer Civil Legal Aid Intern

***This internship is reserved for students eligible for the summer internship stipend. Students eligible will have been notified via email from Student Engagement & Career Development.***

The Volunteer Lawyers Program Unit of Southern Arizona Legal Aid, Inc. (SALA) is seeking legal interns for Summer 2023 to assist their paralegals and volunteer attorneys in advice-only domestic relations/family law clinics. Interns will be assisting with client contact, scheduling, sending court forms and legal information as directed by attorneys, summarizing legal advice, creating legal information resources for the public, legal research projects, and general assistance in the remote delivery of legal services to SALA clients. 
 
Interns will be mentored by and work closely with VLP staff members, as well as volunteer attorneys, including many experienced private attorneys, retired attorneys, and retired judges. 
 
This internship can be done remotely and is particularly appropriate for online BA and MLS students interested in civil, noncriminal law such as family law.

In order to assist VLP staff and Volunteer Attorneys in the remote delivery, legal interns will need to have a close attention to detail, excellent writing and communication skills, and a genuine willingness to learn the areas of civil law that VLP assists client with. Due to the remote nature of the clinics at this time, interns will need access to a personal computer and internet in order to participate in the clinics.
