The US Navy is leading the world in the continual development and use of alternative energy. By harnessing the power of nuclear reactors, we are able to both safely and efficiently operate above and below the world’s oceans. The Nuclear Navy needs driven men and women to commission as Naval Officers and manage its fleet of nuclear powered submarines and aircraft carriers. 
 
The Navy Nuclear Propulsion Officer Candidate (NUPOC) program enables you to join both the Navy and one of the top nuclear programs in the world. Through the NUPOC program, you will be a typical college student with no service obligations to the Navy until you graduate. You will kick-start your career as a Navy Nuclear Officer, with advanced training opportunities and leadership responsibilities.
 
To be an eligible candidate, you must:
1)     Be a U.S. citizen (dual citizens must renounce non-US citizenship)
2)     Be at least 19 years of age and less than 29 years of age at the time of graduation
3)     Meet the physical standards of the Navy
4)     Be a graduate or student pursuing a BA, BS or MS (preferably major in mathematics, engineering, physics, chemistry or other technical areas).
a.     Those still in school may apply as early as 30 months from completion of an undergraduate degree for Surface Warfare & Submarine (Nuclear) positions.
b.     Applicants may also join the NUPOC program as early as 12 months from completion of a master's degree for all NUPOC positions.
5)     Additional academic requirements include:
a.     Completed one academic year of calculus
b.     Completed one academic year of calculus-based physics
c.      A competitive GPA and a minimum grade of “C” in all technical courses

A brief overview of benefits include:

2)     Guaranteed job for at least five years after graduation with unlimited career potential.
3)     A salary up to $4,800 / month as early as second semester sophomore year.
4)     A $15,000 signing bonus upon acceptance in the program.
5)     Minimal military activity while in school – no uniforms or drill.
6)     Direct entry into a management position – responsible for directing and supervising technicians.
7)     Eligible for a Top Secret Clearance to conduct missions vital to national security.
