TapRoot is a company that helps preserve the dignity for those with Alzheimer's and Dementia. We work with long term care facilities helping staff learn better ways to approach residents with Alzheimer's and Dementia related behaviors. Our work is done on the campus of the facility. We are in several facilities in the Phoenix, Tucson, and Show Low area.

The host for this opportunity is Linda Buscemi, Chief Clinical Officer and Co-Founder!

TapRoot is a company that helps preserve the dignity for those with Alzheimer's and Dementia. This type of work requires 'detective' skills, curiosity, and a philosophy that the resident is trying to tell us something. It is our job to figure it out. During your shadow day you will observe and work with assisted living facility staff to determine how to best work with a dementia resident. You will observe and interview staff/caregivers in the facility about residents exhibiting dementia related behaviors. You will be involved in the process of developing a behavior/care plan for specific residents that is intended to prevent or decrease unwanted behaviors. In addition, outreach to the residents’ family to complete an intake of background questions to better understand the resident can be completed. Each resident is reviewed by staff every 2 weeks to assess whether the intervention is working and how it impacts their behaviors. You will not be interacting with the residents directly. TapRoot provides the best non-pharmacological method and approach for staff to utilize to prevent/decrease Alzheimer's/Dementia related behaviors. This is a very challenging, fulfilling, and exciting opportunity. Our organization is transforming how to work with Alzheimer's and Dementia related behaviors.

This shadow would benefit those who are curious about human behaviors. A detective mindset to understand why someone is behaving/reacting the way they are. Taking that information and having the communication ability to educate and train staff to implement the interventions you come up with! Being patient, understanding and a mind set of figuring out the human puzzle of behavior.

Lunch will be provided. This opportunity is available the following days:
  • Tuesday, March 10
  • Wednesday, March 11
  • Thursday, March 12
