Job Shadow in Airport Management (Tucson, AZ)

The Tucson Airport Authority is a unique nonprofit developed by business leaders and created through Arizona state charter in 1948. To this day, TAA stays true to its mission of operating the safest and most efficient airport system while promoting air transportation and fostering economic development in southern Arizona.


The host for this opportunity is the Ground Transportation and Terminal Customer Service Coordinator and UA Alum, Peter Kane!

During the shadow, students may experience (depending on the departments availability for the day):
-Airfield operations
-A visit to the FAA Control Tower
-A visit to the Fire Station
-A visit to the Police Station
-Concourse/terminal/landside operations
-Airport business/marketing/finance/human resources
If the student is interested, arrangements may be possible with;
-Fed Ex
-TSA
-Airlines
-Ground Services (airline)
If a student has specific interests, the shadow day may be tailored to those interests

Students who may benefit are those interested in aerospace engineering, business, marketing, public safety, public administration, and management. Lunch will be provided and students will need to bring a government ID. The shadow will be available for the following days:
  • Tuesday, March 10
  • Wednesday, March 11

This career exploration/professional development opportunity is part of the University of Arizona Job Shadow Program (JSP). The JSP offers one-of-a-kind, low-stakes, high-value experiences for current Wildcats to gain firsthand exposure to careers, fields, and workplaces, and to interact closely with actual professionals and employers. Unless otherwise noted, JSP shadows last ONE DAY (4-8 hours) and will take place during Spring Break, March 9-13, 2020. This is not an employment opportunity and future employment with the organization is not associated with this program.
