Job Shadow in Public Administration (Phoenix, AZ)

Serve the people of the great state of Arizona, The Governor's office has several areas of expertise, including: public policy, communications, legal, operations (cabinet and agency affairs) and legislative affairs.

The host for this opportunity is the Deputy Chief Operating Officer for the Office of Governor Doug Ducey, Sarah Pirzada!

Summary of Experience:
- Introductions and Q&As with Governor Ducey's Senior Staff
- Shadow Governor Ducey's policy advisors in a variety of areas. Introduction to policy and legislative work.
- Shadow Governor Ducey's operations team. Introduction to agency and cabinet affairs. Demonstration of projects designed to improve state services.
Shadow Governor Ducey's communications team. Introduction to how the Governor's team shares his message with the public and how to work with the press.

Students who may benefit from this experience are those interested in public policy. Lunch will be provided. This shadow will be available the following days:
  • Monday, March 9
  • Tuesday, March 10
  • Wednesday, March 11
  • Thursday, March 12
  • Friday, March 13

This career exploration/professional development opportunity is part of the University of Arizona Job Shadow Program (JSP). The JSP offers one-of-a-kind, low-stakes, high-value experiences for current Wildcats to gain firsthand exposure to careers, fields, and workplaces, and to interact closely with actual professionals and employers. Unless otherwise noted, JSP shadows last ONE DAY (4-8 hours) and will take place during Spring Break, March 9-13, 2020.
