Job Shadow in Hospitality (Portland, OR)

While Hyatt Hotels span across the globe, the common pillars that we build all of our hotels upon are our purpose and values:
Purpose: We care for people so they can be their best.
Values: Respect, Integrity, Humility, Empathy, Creativity, Fun

Hyatt Regency Portland is a brand-new, modern, 600 room property located in the heart of Portland, and a stone's throw from multiple entertainment venues. We recently opened in December 2019 as the first full-service Hyatt Hotel in the Portland area and the largest hotel in Oregon. We expect to hire a team of over 300 individuals, making a difference in their lives, the lives of our guests, and our community.

The host for this shadow is Christina Vingerud, Assistant Director of Human Resources and a UA Alum!

During the shadow, the student will participate in the following agenda:
  9:00a - 10:00a - Introductions
  10:00a - 12:00p - Hotel Tour & Behind the Scenes
  12:00p - 1:00p - Lunch in Hotel Restaurant
  1:00p - 3:00p - Overview of Field & Job Shadow (possible rotation)
3:00p - 4:00p - Attend Staff Meeting, Outting, or other Activity
  4:00p - 5:00p - Closing, Questions, Reflections

Although a student may not be 100% sure where their passion lies, it's great to have an open mind and a willingness to explore. That is what is so great about Hyatt Hotels! You can explore opportunities related to Sales & Marketing, Food & Beverage, Human Resources, Culinary, Facility Maintenance, Recreation and so much more! While a student who has an understanding of Human Resources and/or Hospitality might have a stronger foundation to build this experience on, they will all walk away with a greater sense of understanding and appreciation for all that is done to positively impact a guest's stay with us!

Lunch will be provided. This opportunity is available for the following dates:
  • Monday, March 9th
  • Wednesday, March 11th
  • Thursday, March 12th
  • Friday, March 13th
