Job Shadow in Sustainable Operations/Production (Henderson, CO)

Waste Management (WM), a Fortune 250 company, is the leading provider of comprehensive waste and environmental services in North America. We are strongly committed to a foundation of operating excellence, professionalism and financial strength. WM serves nearly 25 million customers in residential, commercial, industrial and municipal markets throughout North America through a network of collection operations, transfer stations, landfills, recycling facilities, and waste-based energy production projects.

Every day, we wake up and serve the cities, towns, and neighborhoods where we live and work, all across North America, helping make our communities safe, resilient and sustainable. We’re constantly seeking to find the best ways to extract the most value from waste. We’re committed to offsetting four times the greenhouse gas emissions we generate through our operations by 2038.

The host for this opportunity is Laila Ameran, an environmental science graduate and Recycling Communications Specialist!

Most people don't have to think about what goes into collecting their trash because we're working hard to make your service excellent. Whether you are interested in sales, front-line management, or sustainability, this shadowing opportunity will give you an inside perspective on day-to-day operations at Waste Management. Talk to professionals within the waste industry with various backgrounds about leadership, management, sustainability, and what it's like working for a Fortune 250 company.

Draft agenda:
   5:30-7 AM: Driver Launch
See our front-line management team prepare our drivers for a safe and impactful day of work. Watch as our fleet takes to the road. Talk to managers about what it's like to work for Waste Management and make this giant machine move forward.
   7-9 AM: Coaching Meetings
Join our management team as they give each other feedback on the morning's launch and prepare for the day ahead. Depending on the day, you may participate in a call on safety, operations improvement, or leadership theory.
   9-11 AM: Tour
If possible, we will bring you to a local facility to see how one of WM's landfills or recycling facilities operate.

Waste Management is more than just trash collection. Professionals find their perfect fit at WM in an industry they may not have expected. While WM is open to students of all backgrounds, we've found our opportunities are generally the best fit for students graduating with degrees in business, operations management, and those with ROTC/military experience.

This opportunity is only available January 7, 8, 10, & 14th. Please bring your own lunch.
