Over the course of the program, you'll gain great understanding of the work we do, our commitment to safety and the options we offer across our large-scale operations. You'll build relationships with the Rio Tinto team and community; gather valuable real world experience – while getting paid to do it!
 
Our Summer 2020 internship program is now open for those seeking a challenging, exciting and rewarding experience. This is a great start to prepare your application for our 2021 Graduate Excellence Path program intake in the USA.
 
As well as a competitive salary, a relocation stipend and assistance will be offered to students relocating from out-of-state for their Summer internship.
 
About the role
As Intern – Industrial Hygiene, your role will include to identify and manage industrial hygiene related risks, including medical and occupational health and safety. Involved in reactive and proactive activities including reporting, investigations and establishing best practice.
 
To be considered for this internship opportunity, you will have: 
  • At least one year completed in HSE or any other related field
  • Eagerness to learn and ready for the challenge ahead
  • Analytical mind-set
  • Good communication skills and ability to work in a team

Where you will be working
Rio Tinto Kennecott is a fully integrated mining operation located just outside Salt Lake City, Utah, US. Kennecott is a wholly owned subsidiary of Rio Tinto. For more than 110 years, Kennecott has been mining and processing minerals from the rich orebody of the Bingham Canyon Mine.
