Job Shadow in Higher Education / Development / Alumni Relations (Miami, FL)

The University of Miami Development & Alumni Relations mission is to establish and enhance a mutually beneficial and enduring relationship between the University of Miami, its alumni and current and future students. We shall work to promote the excellence of the University of Miami by serving as ambassadors and encouraging involvement and volunteerism; fostering love, respect, and pride in the University; and obtaining support, communicating the message and furthering the overall mission of our alma mater.

The host for this opportunity is Sarah Seavey, the Director of Professional Development & Training and also a UA Alum!

In this opportunity, students will be able to witness the daily process of creating an internal career ladder system that includes incentives, badging, professional development, skill-based training, train-the-trainer model, training and development, facilitation and more. The opportunity also exists to be exposed to event planning, alumni and constituent engagement, fundraising, marketing, web development, and many more areas within the division on a tour and meet and greets with other staff members.
   
Example agenda could be:
  • Tour of campus
  • Shadowing Director of Professional Development & Training
  • Lunch
  • Introductions or meetings with other staff depending on students area of interest
Students of any major are encouraged to apply.

This shadow is for ONE DAY either on January 3rd or during the week of January 6-10th.

This is part of the UA Job Shadow Program (JSP), a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain firsthand exposure to a career field and be mentored by actual professionals.
