Design Engineer Intern (Electrical - HQ- Olathe, KS - Summer 2020)

Forget “special projects” for newbies, our design engineering interns work side-by-side with a mentor, making hands-on contributions to the world’s top-selling GPS navigation and wireless communication products. Our interns design and develop electronic circuits, equipment, systems and/or products. They also prepare test data and reports; use software tools and test equipment to formulate and test electronic designs; design, debug and test digital, analog, Radio Frequency (AF) and/or Application Specific Integrated Circuits (ASIC) and so much more. We are looking for a design engineering intern to develop basic analog along with other RF circuits, equipment and systems at our headquarters in Olathe, Kansas. In this role, you’ll also be responsible for performing basic schematic design and PCB layout and complete basic troubleshooting and debugging of electronic circuits and other systems.
 
Other essential functions include:
  • Design test boards and circuit modifications to test design improvements 
  • Test circuits designed by other engineers and document the test results 
  • Partner with more experienced Design Engineers to effectively complete design projects
  • Communicates status of work clearly providing visibility to supervisor or mentor 
  • May be responsible for planning own technical work 
  • Applies design standards and procedures to implement basic design
  • Learns how to use and apply engineering tools relevant for performing the essential functions of this job description


Qualifications

 
Qualified candidates for this role will have completed coursework in Electrical Engineering or Computer Engineering, or a field relevant to perform the essential functions of this job description with a minimum cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.0. Other requirements include:
  • Knowledge and/or experience with test equipment and software tools for electronics design, testing and documentation
A cumulative GPA greater than or equal to 3.5 and previous experience with test equipment and software tools for electronic design, testing, and documentation is highly preferred!
