AmeriCorps Fund Development Specialist
1. Organizational Purpose and Background
Prevent Child Abuse Arizona aims to ensure that prevention of child neglect and abuse becomes the priority. Since 1989, PCA Arizona has been a leader in advocating for research-based prevention services throughout Arizona. In 2017, our prevention services will reach over 84,000 young children and their families with parent education, home visits and child welfare system improvements. The Fund Development department is growing to meet the need that exists in Arizona. The AmeriCorps VISTA member would be instrumental in assisting in the expansion as well as coordinating, planning, organizing and directing other existing ancillary programs. AmeriCorps VISTA's receive a living allowance, relocation reimbursement and a Segal Education Award.
2. Project Focus Areas and Activities
a. Research and assess strategies that can support the growth of Prevent Child Abuse Arizona: The VISTA will research public and private grant resources, fund development strategies, and currently used external communications to build more sources of funding. Additionally, they will continue collaborate with the Development team to update and refine communications and fund development plan.
b. Improve communication strategies: The VISTA will use current communications processes at Prevent Child Abuse Arizona to increase outreach on constituent newsletter and other external communications. They will also increase content generation for the agency’s website and social media.
c. Develop new funding opportunities. The VISTA will maintain and grow donor database and assist in the donor relations process including individual donor engagement, develop special events, and engage corporate sponsors. The member will also maintain and diversify funding from private and corporate foundations while creating a tracking system for organizational use.
d. Evaluate and integrate new development activities into operations. The VISTA will evaluate the progress of the communications and fund development plan and suggest and initiate changes to the current plan.
