Job Shadow in Public Service & State Government (Phoenix, AZ)

The Governor's Office is responsible for running the State of Arizona. It is our duty to ensure that State Agencies are providing quality service to our citizens, ensuring that we are passing positive and meaningful legislation, and ensuring we are doing everything we can to make Arizona the best state in the nation.

The host for this opportunity is Brett Galley, Project Manager at the Arizona Governor's Office!

Draft Agenda (Subject to change)
 8:30 - 9:30AM - Coffee and intro to state government / Q&A
 9:30 - 10:30AM - Capitol tour
 10:30 - 11:30AM - Meet with Governor's staff
 11:30AM - 1:00PM - Lunch on Capitol Lawn/Capitol Lawn events
 1:00 - 4:00PM - Attend Governor's State of the State Speech and Tour House Floor 

The student that would best benefit from this shadow is someone who is interested in politics/government work. Ideally, this person would be sociable and enjoy working with/talking with others. The student will be meeting a lot of our employees so being comfortable talking to new people would help make this a better experience for the student. Related majors: Political Science, Public Administration, Public Policy.

Please note: The Legislative Session begins the second Monday of January 2020 which is Monday, January 13th. This would be the best day for the job shadow. However, on the 13th, the Governor will deliver his State of the State speech and there is a slew of events happening around the capitol that day. Thus, this shadow is available either January 13th or 14th.

This is part of the UA Job Shadow Program (JSP). The JSP is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to a career field and be mentored by actual professionals. Unless otherwise noted, the experience is ONE DAY long and will take place during late Winter Break, on either January 13 or 14, 2020.
