Sales Leadership Development Program

When you are accepted into the Sales Leadership Development Program (SLDP), you will have an opportunity to build your foundation in Sales and Sales Management. Your experience will accelerate your growth and prepare you for a career in Sales, Fine Wine, Distributor Management, and beyond. The Program gives you the opportunity to grow through three different phases.

Phase I – Distributor Sales Representative
In the Sales Leadership Development, your first role will be as a Sales Representative. You’ll receive extensive product and sales training that will help you manage 15-30 existing Gallo accounts. No cold calling necessary! In Southern California, these accounts are grocery and drug chain stores (like Ralphs, Albertsons, or CVS). Your responsibilities will include territory management, relationship building, selling face-to-face, and creative merchandising. Results and exemplary sales leadership skills will lead you to your next opportunity.

Phase II – District Sales Manager
The District Sales Manager (DM) position will be the next step in building your career at Gallo. In this role, you will develop your leadership and strategic thinking skills by managing a team of 5-8 Sales Representatives. Finding the right motivational techniques and administrative tools to manage a team will be key to achieving success through your team. You will continue to interact with customers daily in accounts, training and developing your Sales Representatives in this hands-on environment.

Phase III – Multiple Sales Opportunities
A world of opportunity awaits you in the final phase of the program, and you can explore a variety of unique career paths in the sales channel. This might include an exciting progression into a higher level of sales leadership as an Area Sales Manager (AM), entering the dynamic world of spirits as a Spirits Market Specialist, or transitioning into a role working alongside the customer development team as a Chain Marketing Manager. With your new skillset and well-rounded experience, you will feel confident to take on the next leadership challenge. The purpose of this phase is to combine your individual leadership skills from Phase I and your team leadership skills from Phase II to produce results at an organizational level.

Your specific timeline for Phases I, II, and III will depend on your own growth, development, and merit in preparation for the next assignment.
