Technical Writer II

DESCRIPTION:

• Planning, organizing, and writing customer documentation for hardware and software products and solutions. 
• Working closely with product development teams to research and understand technical information about the product so you can write customer documentation for the appropriate persona/audience. 
• Developing documentation plans and document outlines; defining audience, determining task list, identifying technical information requirements. Accountable to delivering documents on time and on budget. 
• Writing and editing customer documentation in a clear and concise style following existing guidelines for brand, templates, and style guides. 
• Working with outside translation providers to coordinate translated documents. 
• Being excited about collaborating with the community of global technical communication teams to create a world-class Tech Communication organization. 
• Identifying and driving innovative Tech Communication initiatives, which may include developing strategies for intelligent content, content management, and translations. 
• Mentoring and inspiring other writers who are part of the Tech Communication team. 
• Modeling Honeywell core values and behaviors. 
• Portfolio demonstrating your excellent technical communications skills, especially written communication. 
• Work with global/distributed teams. 
• Proven skills in decision making, strategic thinking, and planning for and adjusting to change. 
• Ability and desire to learn and understand new ideas. Willing to use software and hardware prototypes to verify procedures. 
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team. 
• Good communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.


BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor’s degree.
• A minimum of 2 years of experience in technical writing of hardware and software products.
Additional Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Technical Communications or related field preferred. 
• Experience working with MadCap Flare, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator, Adobe Photoshop, Microsoft Word.
• Familiarity with topic-based authoring, structured content, DITA publishing. 
• Experience with scheduling/project management/Agile Software environment.
• Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills. 
• Positive approach towards collaboration and teamwork.
