Job Shadow in Sports Medicine / Athletic Training (Tucson)

The host for this Job Shadow in Sports Medicine/Athletic Training is Emily.

I work in Sport Medicine department in UA Athletics, specifically in the McKale Center with the Volleyball and Beach Volleyball teams as the Athletic Trainer. I provide medical care and manage medical cases of athletes for those two teams. There are 9 Athletic Trainers that work in McKale with various sports, and 5 more that work in Lowell-Stevens with the football team.

  The job shadow day needs to happen 3/2 - 3/5 as I travel with the Beach team on the 5th and will be gone the rest of the week. Any day but 3/5 will be an 8 hour day minimum.

   

   If on 3/2 or 3/3 - this will be during the Pac-12 South Beach Tournament.

   -Pregame treatments

   -Game day Coverage (multiple teams, multiple games)

   -Post game treatments

   *I understand this is outside the dates; but a cool opportunity for something different.

   

   3/4 or 3/5 - this will be practice and lifting. (The team travels on the 5th, so that day will be shorter.)

   -Prepractice treatments

   -Practice Coverage

   -Weight room Observation

   -Therapy session

   -General Training room

   

   **Any of the days will provide a wide variety of activity and learning opportunities like taping, stretching, evaluations, speaking with doctors, working with strength coaches, interactions with other medical providers and students on similar paths. More information will be provided about dress code and specifics closer to shadow day.
