Job Shadow in Administrative Government (Phoenix, AZ)

The Chief Operating Officer oversees operations for the State which employees 35,000 people (not including universities) with a budget of 40+ Billion. As a State we do everything from building highways to operating prisons to processing tax returns to ensuring the safety of our most vulnerable (children and the elderly).

The Host for this opportunity is Gilbert Davidson, a UA Alumni who enjoys working for the people and does everything in his power to ensure government services are provided efficiently and effectively.

Agenda for this opportunity:
 9am to 3pm 
   Morning: Coffee and tour of State Capitol 
   Attend meeting related to significant Statewide project. 
    
   Afternoon: 
   Lunch with the Operations team 
   Afternoon visit various agencies and leaders see how they use data to drive decision-making
   Q & A with Chief Operating Officer 
    
   If students have a specific area of interest we will tailor the trip to their interests

Students who would benefit from this opportunity are those in  Public Administration, Public Service, Political Science, Sociology, Business, and Public Policy.

This is part of the UA Job Shadow Program (JSP). The JSP is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to a career field and be mentored by actual professionals.
