Job Shadow in Higher Education (Miami, FL)

The University of Miami Alumni Association's mission is to establish and enhance a mutually beneficial and enduring relationship between the University of Miami, its alumni and current and future students. We shall work to promote the excellence of the University of Miami by serving as ambassadors and encouraging involvement and volunteerism; fostering love, respect, and pride in the University; and obtaining support, communicating the message and furthering the overall mission of our alma mater.We are located in Coral Gables (South Miami) Advancement and Development is made up of 275 employees No matter where our alumni find themselves along the way in their career journey, Alumni Career Services and the power of your UM alumni network is there to support them grow their professional network, find jobs, and advance their careers. 

The host for this job shadow is UA Alum and Director of Alum Affairs, Sarah Seavey.

On this shadow, you should expect your schedule to be as followed:
  • First hour: Tour of Newman Alumni Center and the various areas of campus
  • Second hour: Review of a typical day and how we development and implement programming, virtual events, regional events, and career services resources.
  • Third hour: Join in on a meeting or brainstorm session
  • Fourth hour: Write content for a website or join a campus career event or panel
  • Fifth hour: Lunch on campus 
This job shadow will be available from March 4th-8th.

This opportunity will be most beneficial for students interested in Higher Education, Administration, and Education.

This is part of the UA Job Shadow Program (JSP). The JSP is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to a career field and be mentored by actual professionals. Unless otherwise noted, the experience is one day long and will take place sometime during Spring Break, March 4 - 8th.
