IT Infrastructure Team Lead

Job Description
The IT Infrastructure Team Leader is responsible for effective leadership and collaboration under the Director of IT Infrastructure and also be able to provide assistance with hands on activities including provisioning, installation/configuration, operation, and maintenance of end user hardware and software. This individual ensures that hardware, operating systems, software systems, and related procedures adhere to organizational standards. The IT Team leader will be the initial point of contact for support and will be responsible for initial triage and routing ticket to proper support personnel.
Responsibilities
- Communicate and collaborate with offsite management to ensure accurate workflow.
- Establish and optimize procedures while prioritizing workflows in fast moving dynamical environment.
- Manage operational activities in the IT department including hardware maintenance on workstations, laptops, and other equipment including diagnosis, recommendation, repair, upgrade, and replacement as necessary.
- Keep current on IT staff following procedures, provide recommendations and suggestions and help design internal procedures and processes.
- Create and maintain detailed documentation of the IT systems and deployments.
- Be able to define VPN and Firewall policies on Fortinet firewalls.
Technical Skills
- Knowledge of and ability to create network and firewall infrastructure (Fortinet Preferred)
- Be able to participate in IT hands on activities such as supporting Microsoft Windows, Ubuntu Linux, Office, and other software as well as supporting desktop, laptop, and mobile devices.
- Setup and support Microsoft Windows, Ubuntu Linux, Office 365, and other office productivity software
- Working knowledge networking concepts and able to follow networking designs
- Knowledge of security fundamentals and concepts including device hardening for end user devices.
Qualifications
- Able to lead a team, control and manage the work and cascade tactical decisions arriving directly from the Director of IT Infrastructure
- At least 5 years’ experience supporting Linux/Windows desktop/laptop environments
- 1-2 years of management or team lead experience
- Certification in Networking, Security or Cloud Systems preferred.
- BA and Project Management experience is a plus.
