Foresters Financial Fall Internship- Phoenix

Internship
Our Foresters Financial Internship Program is designed for the student who has an interest in financial services, but has not yet decided on a specific career path. This program is set up as an apprenticeship.
It is important to mention that we consider candidates from our internship first, post graduation, for our full-time positions with our firm. There is also no marketing, calling, or selling involved in our internship. It is a strictly behind the scenes, educational experience working directly with our VP and branch managers gaining knowledge of the financial industry. We also only meet on Fridays through the summer semester.
The training involved is meant to teach basic business skills the apprentice can use to potentially build a career. This apprenticeship introduces Interns to the important role that financial services representatives play in the lives of their clients. Within this 8-10 week program, which only meets on Friday, there are three components:
I. Representative Shadow
This program is designed to teach students valuable business skills, while simultaneously letting them explore the possibilities of a career in the financial services industry. The Representative Shadow portion allows interns to work closely with a licensed representative, observing how that representative interacts with clients and grows his or her business. In this capacity, the apprentice will learn how a representative organizes and updates client information, prepares investment proposals, executes retirement and college needs analyses, and drafts correspondence.
II. Curriculum Studies
In addition to the Representative Shadow, there is an extensive curriculum that covers many topics which are pertinent to the financial services industry. For example, our managers will cover Asset Allocation Strategies, Mutual Funds, Retirement Plans, and Business Planning, among other subjects relevant to students with an interest in the financial services industry. This portion of the apprenticeship is a very beneficial teaching and learning opportunity, and will include topics that are oftentimes not covered in college courses.
III. Case Study Training
Interns will also have the opportunity to attend case study meetings. Apprentices will work as a team to break down actual client cases and generate recommendations that benefit the prospective client's financial situation. In doing so, interns will learn about the products offered by Foresters Financial, as well as the skills needed to become successful in the financial services industry.
The Foresters Financial Internship Program provides a thorough inside look into how we approach the world of personal finance. Upon completion of the internship and graduation from college, some of our interns may be offered the opportunity to become full-time financial services representatives.
Working with clients and helping them achieve their dreams and goals is at the heart of what we do. If your skills and goals are a good match for our firm and our clients, you may be offered the opportunity to join the Foresters Financial family. Once that step has been taken, it will be time to focus on the professional responsibilities that come along with a career in financial services, and getting your professional licenses.
