Project Engineer

Position Title: Project Engineer

Division: Hexagon Mining

Department: Technical Service & Support

· To ensure Hexagon mining systems at customer mine sites operate effectively and deliver

tangible value to our customer mining operations

· To manage and carry out the deployment, configuration,

commissioning and training, and to provide technical support

for Mining Systems, the region.

· Support and maintain software

· Deliver customization as required

· Troubleshoot system issues

· Own and implement customer system configurations

· Implement system customizations using scripting tools

· Participate in onsite system installation efforts

· Take ownership and responsibility for customer issues and

problems and seeing them through to resolution wherever

possible

· Provide technical leadership in areas of expertise, working

with other project team members to ensure transfer of

knowledge and ample coverage of required duties · Gather

customer requirements and identify improvements and

customizations for Mining Systems

· Act as technical project lead for system deployments,

working collaboratively with the Project Managers and other

Project Engineers in a structured manner

· Utilize relationships developed with customers and other

contacts to advise sales team of potential issues affecting

customers as well as other opportunities for Hexagon.

· Manage customer relationships from project inception to

deployment and post installation support, becoming the

customer interface for that project

· Work collaboratively with sales team in a pre-sales capacity (e.g. attending / leading technical

presentations) to capitalize on close relationships with customers and to raise Hexagon’s profile

and product advantages and benefits

· Facilitate customer system training to ensure systems are

being utilized to their full potential

· Represent Hexagon in a helpful, professional and courteous

manner at all times

· Maintain, enhance and adhere to Hexagon documentation

and reporting standards, systems and processes

· Work on support team maintenance tasks on a scheduled

roster

· Comply with Hexagon’s Workplace Health and Safety

policies and procedures, participation in audits and

compliance with instructions given in respect to the health and

safety of himself / herself and the safety of others

· Other duties as required from time to time

· A relevant degree in Engineering (Computer / Electrical /

Electronic, Systems), Computer Science, or a related field

Experience / Skills / Attributes

· Postgres and / or SQL Server experience

· Experience with LINUX and LINUX Shell Scripting

· Experience with scripting languages such as PHP, Perl,

Ruby

· Experience with IP networking

· Experience with or knowledge of C++ OR Objective-C

software development

· Ability to form strong relationships with customers and

represent the company professionally

· Strong time management and prioritization skills

(prerequisite)

· Ability to set and meet team and individual goals and

deadlines

· Strong communication skills, both verbal and written

· Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment

· Ability to work autonomously or part of a team environment

· Ability to manage multiple concurrent projects

· Ability to rapidly grasp technical solutions, concepts and

products

· Desire to expand own knowledge and skill set as well as sharing knowledge with other team

members wherever possible

· Wireless networks experience (desirable)

· Knowledge of mining operations (desirable)

· Bilingual English/Spanish (desirable)

· Considerable Travel (domestic and international) will be

required for this role
