Sales Leadership Development Program

When you are accepted into the Sales Leadership Development Program (SLDP) you’ll have an opportunity to experience a world-renowned, accelerated program designed to build a thorough foundation in consumer goods sales and sales management. You’ll be well prepared and well on your way towards an advanced career that can span sales, fine wine, distributor management, and beyond. Due to the decentralized nature of sales activity in the wine industry, no two people’s development experience will be exactly the same. The path to finding success is a three-phase program. 
 
Phase I – Distributor Sales Representative 
Our SLDP participants begin their training as Sales Representatives and are provided with a comprehensive educational experience. While enrolled in our sales training classes, you will have the chance to work alongside sales leadership and gain valuable exposure to the total sales process. Your responsibilities will include territory management, selling face-to-face, and creative merchandising in established chain retail accounts (grocery and drug stores). Along the way, you’ll have a world of support and resources at your fingertips, including the chance to work with some of the most advanced mobile sales technology. 
 
Phase II – District Sales Manager 
As you progress to the next tier, you’ll have your first promotion to District Sales Manager where you’ll showcase your leadership skills and lead a team of 5-7 Sales Representatives. During this phase, you’ll have the chance to put knowledge into practice, developing skills such as strategic thinking, critical problem-solving, forecasting, and sales strategy. You learned how to be a successful Sales Representative, and now you are afforded the opportunity to train, educate, and motivate the members of your team. Each challenge you face will be as exciting as it is rewarding, and the basic principles of management learned here will be essential in every phase of your career. 
 
Phase III – Multiple Sales Opportunities 
A world of opportunity awaits you in the final tier of the program, and you are free to explore a variety of unique career paths in the sales channel. This could include an exciting progression into a higher level of sales leadership as an Area Manager, entering the dynamic world of spirits as a Spirits Market Specialist, or transitioning into a role working alongside the customer development team as a Chain Marketing Manager. With your new skill set and well-rounded experience, you’ll feel confident to take on the next leadership challenge. 
 
Your specific timeline for Phases I, II, and III will depend on your own growth, development, and merit in preparation for the next assignment.
