Job Shadow in Civil/Mechanical/Geotechnical Engineering in Bagdad, AZ
Bagdad is home to the world’s first commercial-scale concentrate leach processing facility and one of the longest continuously operating solution extraction/electrowinning (SX/EW) plants in the world. While in Bagdad you will have the opportunity to tour the mine pit (where the ore is extracted), the mill (where ore is processed), and the tailings dam (where the tailings are deposited after copper is extracted).
8:00 am – Meet at the Bagdad Admin Building and have coffee/light breakfast
8:30 am- Meet General Manager/Engineering Manager/Environmental Manager
9:00 am – Site Specific Safety Training at Security Gate
9:30 am – Tour of Pit and Mill
12:00 pm – Lunch at Copper Country Grill
1:00pm – Tour of Tailings Dam
3:00pm – Closeout meeting at Tailings office
4:00pm- End of visit
Guidelines: Expect heavy walking around the plant and on some tailing dam slopes. You will be required to watch a safety video at the site entrance gate. You must remain with your escort at all times during your visit.
Dress Code: Long sleeved shirt, jeans, and closed toed shoes (preferably steel-toed boots)
