Job Shadow in Environmental Engineering/Science in Green Valley, AZ

This job shadow opportunity is only available on March 7, 2018, from 8:00am - 2:30pm, and is located at the Sierrita Mine in Green Valley, Arizona.  Experience a day in the life of an environmental professional at an operating copper mine. Meet with our environmental team to receive an overview of the facility and staff. Then you will be matched with a team member who you will join in the field to observe different activities, such as CEMS checks/calibration, water/APP checks and inspections, waste packaging and management, and more. You will get the opportunity to visit the Mine, Mill, Solvent Extraction plant and Electrowinning facility.
8:00-8:30 a.m.: Arrive on Site/Watch safety Video
8:30-9:00 a.m.: Site process presentation
9:00-11:00 a.m.: Site Tour
11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.: Lunch
12:00-2:30 p.m.: Meet with Air, Water, Waste Medias for work activities

Guidelines: The day will begin with a 20-minute site safety video. Expect quite a bit of walking. Parts of the day may be hot and/or in dusty environments.
Dress Code: Long pants, closed toed shoes (steel-toed boots preferred), shirt that covers the shoulder. The site will provide hardhats, safety glasses, and hearing protection if necessary.

This opportunity is great for students interested in Environmental Science, Environmental Technology, Earth Science or related Natural Science (such as Biology, Chemistry, Geology, Hydrology, Forestry); Engineering (Environmental, Civil, Chemical, Agricultural, Mining, Metallurgical, Geological or similar).
