Job Shadow in Medical Research in Phoenix

The professional you will shadow will be identified once a student has been selected to ensure that the student's interests are being met. Placement could be shadowing a Research Associate, Post-Doctoral Fellow, or Bioinformatician in the areas of cancer research, neurogenomics, or bioinformatics.

Students will be able to attend meetings which may include lab meetings, scientific presentations, tumor boards, etc. They will also be able to observe the scientist working on their current research project using cutting edge technology. Hands-on opportunities cannot be guaranteed and are at the discretion of the scientific staff. TGen is a very collaborative organization and students will have opportunities to speak with and ask questions of other research staff. They will experience what it is really like to be a scientist and learn real-world application for the skills and knowledge gained in the classroom. This opportunity is for one day for 7-8 hours, the date and times will remain flexible until a student is selected.

Interested students should be available at least three days between March 5 and 9, 2018 in order to provide flexibility in scheduling. Students must wear closed-toed shoes.

Students interested in any bioscience-related major or computer, mathematics, or statistics students interested in bioinformatics are encouraged to apply.

This is part of the UA Job Shadow Program (JSP). The JSP is a one-of-a-kind opportunity to gain first-hand exposure to a career field and be mentored by actual professionals.
