Customs and Border Protection Officer

Customs and Border Protection Officers are sworn federal law enforcement officers that serve as guardians of America's borders. With CBP's main mission being anti-terrorism, CBP Officers protect the American public by enforcing Customs and Immigration laws at more than 300 Ports of Entry across the United States. CBP Officers work in all 50 states and almost every US territory. CBP Officers search for illegal entrants into the US, weapons of mass effect, weapons of mass destruction, contraband such as drugs, and merchandise that violates intellectual property rights.

CBP Officers receive full government benefits (medical, dental, life insurance, 401K (TSP), pensions, etc.). The CBP Officer position has a 20-year service requirement for retirement. Beginning salary without pay enhancements: $32,844 - $49,765 (will vary depending on entry-level grade). CBP Officers have an overtime rate of double time and can potentially earn up to an extra $45,000 annually in addition to base salary. CBP Officers can receive bonuses for the use and maintaining of foreign language proficiency in their job duties. Some duty locations are offering bonuses of 25% for the first three years of service. All CBPOs are guaranteed to promote to GS-12 within a few years of entering the service (minimum base salary of $72,168).
